Title SPEED CHANGE MECHANISM WITH LOAD-BEARING SADDLE Abstract A speed change mechanism of the type having a gear change yoke actuated by a travelling ball nut on a screw includes a load-bearing saddle slidably mounted over the nut. The saddle provides for avoidance of radial loads on the nut and screw via the yoke, while allowing for transmission of axial loads between said members. The yoke moves between first and second limits of movement and contains a provision for relief of axial loads to the nut and screw whenever the yoke is positioned at either of said limits.
