IMPROVED SPEED SENSOR ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A sensor assembly for connection between a truck and a car body of a locomotive which accommodates relative movement between the truck and car body without straining electrical conductors extending therebetween. The sensor is used for providing electrical signals indicative of the speed of a wheel of the locomotive and includes a mounting block adapted for attachment to the truck in a position adjacent a rotating element having a rotational speed proportional to the speed of the locomotive wheel and an electromagnetic sensor supported in the mounting block for providing signals representative of the rotational speed of the rotating element. A plurality of electrical conductors extend from the sensor through a flexible hose to a connector. The conductors have a length substantially longer than a length of the hose. The excess length of conductors is accommodated within the hose by being folded in a substantially S-shaped configuration. Displacement of the truck with respect to the car body is absorbed by the folded conductors without placing a strain on the conductors at the sensor or connector ends.
