In certain embodiments, the spirocyclic heterocyclic derivatives are ligands of the .delta.-opioid receptor and may be useful, inter alia, for treating and/or preventing pain, anxiety, gastrointestinal disorders, and other .delta.-opioid receptor-mediated diseases, disorders, and/or conditions.
