An apparatus and method for splicing tapes dispensed from a tape dispenser. According to one embodiment, a first, running or unwinding roll of tape is provided with a first splicing element secured to its trailing end portion. A second, stationary or standby roll of tape is provided with a second splicing element secured to its leading end portion. The second splicing element comprises a body made of a self-supporting material and formed with at least one aperture sized to receive the tape from the first roll. While tape is being dispensed from the first roll, the running tape is inserted into the aperture of the second splicing element. When the first roll of tape becomes depleted, the first splicing element engages the second splicing element, thereby splicing the leading end portion of the second tape roll to the trailing end portion of the first tape roll.
La présente invention a trait à un appareil et un procédé pour l'épissure de ruban distribué à partir d'un dévidoir de ruban. Selon un mode de réalisation, un premier rouleau de ruban défilant ou se déroulant est muni d'un premier élément d'épissure solidaire de sa portion d'extrémité arrière. Une deuxième rouleau fixe ou de réserve est muni d'un deuxième élément d'épissure solidaire de sa portion d'extrémité avant. Le deuxième élément d'épissure comporte un corps réalisé en un matériau autoportant et formé avec au moins une ouverture dimensionnée pour la réception du ruban provenant du premier rouleau. Au fur et à mesure de la distribution de ruban depuis le premier rouleau, le ruban en défilement est introduit dans l'ouverture du deuxième élément d'épissure. Lors de l'épuisement du premier rouleau de ruban, le premier élément d'épissure engage le deuxième élément d'épissure, permettant ainsi l'épissure de la portion d'extrémité avant du deuxième rouleau de ruban vers la portion d'extrémité arrière du premier rouleau.
