A split roll (10) has several separate roll bodies (14, 16) which are arranged side-by-side axially of the roll (10). Adjoining roll bodies (14, 16) are mounted in a bearing assembly (70) which includes a bearing (75, 84) for each of the roll bodies (14, 16). The two bearings (75, 84) for a pair of adjoining roll bodies (14, 16) are located in a common housing (72) which is overlapped by the respective roll bodies (14, 16).
