My idea of the split tailgate is that the tailgate would swing open to the left and to the right. Each tailgate swinging 90 degreese to the left and to the right hung with heavy duty hinges that locks each side into place when opened and would shape over the tail lights The left tailgate when closed would have a dead bolt to the truck to lock it into place at the bottom with the hinges locking into the closed position. The right tailgate when closing would lock in the middle of the left tailgate and lock at the top of the left tailgate locking into the closed postion The handle to open it would be on the right hand side of the tailgate opening to the right until its in the 90 degreese postion then with the left release the dead bolt at the bottom and open it 90 degreese. Just under the trailer hitch would be a step to step into the back of the truck making it easier to get in and out of the back of the truck.
