A spool supporting structure of a spinning reel, in which an approximately cylindrical stationary drag body is fitted on the outer periphery of a spool shaft and locked from turning; a disk-like resistance plate is mounted on the outer periphery of the stationary drag body; an approximately cylindrical rotary drag body is rotatably and axially slidably fitted on the outer periphery of a fitting section of the stationary drag body; a resistance plate is mounted on the outer periphery of the rotary drag body, oppositely to the resistance plate of the stationary drag body; a drag washer is inserted between the resistance plates; an elastic body is elastically interposed between the fitting section of the rotary drag body and a drag knob engaged on the forward end portion of the spool shaft; a spool mounted through a center bore along the axial center is fitted on the outer periphery of the fitting section of the rotary drag body, axially releasably engaged and tightened; and the minimum inside diameter of the center bore in the spool is larger than the maximum outside diameter of the drag knob.
