- 1 - Sprag Clutch Assembly Abstract: A sprag clutch assembly which comprises an inner (10) and an outer race (12), sprags between the races, a sprag retainer (26) having its cross bars (22) closely adjacent the inner race (10) and contracting garter springs (28) surrounding footed portions (18) of the sprags. The assembly finds particular use in indexing applications where the indexing rate and the accuracy required are high.
