A suspension (10) adapted to mount on a vehicle frame having a pair of spaced frame rails (14). The suspension (10) comprises a pair of trailing arm assemblies (12) that carry an axle (16). Each trailing arm assembly comprises a frame bracket (24) adapted to be mounted to one of the frame rails (14) and a spring beam (20) pivotally mounted at one end to the frame bracket (24) for pivotal movement about a pivot axis (23) and adapted to carry an axle (16) at another end. A spring (26) is disposed between the spring beam other end and the corresponding frame rail to resist the rotational movement of the trailing arm toward the frame. An axle seat (62) is integrally formed in the spring beam (20) for mounting the axle (16) thereto. The spring beam (20) has a pivot axis center line and the axle seat has a center line, which is located outboard of the pivot axis center line.

On décrit une suspension (10) prévue pour être installée sur un châssis de véhicule comportant deux longerons (14) de cadre de châssis espacés. La suspension (10) comprend une paire d'ensembles bras longitudinal (12) qui supportent un essieu (16). Chaque ensemble bras longitudinal comprend une fixation (24) de châssis prévue pour être installée sur un des longerons (14) de cadre de châssis et un balancier à ressort (20) qui est monté pivotant à une extrémité de la fixation (24) de châssis pour pivoter autour d'un axe de pivotement (23) et pour supporter un essieu (16) à l'autre extrémité. Un ressort (26) est placé entre l'autre extrémité du ressort du balancier à ressort et le longeron de cadre de châssis correspondant pour résister au mouvement de rotation du bras longitudinal en direction du châssis. Un siège (62) d'essieu est formé monobloc dans le balancier à ressort (20) pour supporter l'essieu (16). Le balancier à ressort (20) a une ligne centrale d'axe de pivotement et le siège d'essieu a une ligne centrale, laquelle se situe en dehors de la ligne centrale de l'axe de pivotement.
