A spring clip for a spring of a door is disclosed. The spring has coils and a predetermined internal diameter. The spring clip includes internal head and tab portions, each defining an opening. The tab portion has opposed sides defining recesses and teeth. The recesses receive the spring and the teeth are positioned between the coils. The opposed recesses define a width or distance greater than the internal diameter of the spring forcing the spring into a non-circular cross section and tightly securing the spring clip to the spring.
