SPRING COILING MACHINE WITH IMPROVED FEED ROLL DRIVE MEANS ABSTRACT A cyclically operable spring coiling machine has a pair of feed rolls for intermittently advancing wire longitudinally to a coiling station. A coiling arbor and tool at the coiling sta- tion cooperatively form leading end portions of the wire to a coil spring configuration and a cutoff tool severs the coiled leading end portions of the wire to provide individual coil springs. Feed roll drive means includes drive gears, a unidirec- tional clutch, and a feed roll cam with an associated follower and lever driving a reciprocable rack associated with a feed roll drive gear. Low inertia reciprocating and oscillating elements are provided for accurate and high speed machine opera- tion. -1-
