A spring compressor apparatus for compressing the spring of a spring assembly in combination with an automobile hoist having first and second upright members, vertically movable lift arms mounted on said upright members and power means providing vertical movement of the lift arms. The apparatus comprises an upper plate, secured on an upright, a lower plate, secured on a movable arm, and upper and lower engagement means located on the upper plate to engage a first end of the spring assembly and on the lower plate to engage a second end of the spring assembly. The spring assembly is placed between the plates and the power means is started, thereby causing upward movement of the movable arm. The upward movement compresses the spring assembly between the plates and allows the easy, safe, and inexpensive disassembly of spring assemblies for repair.
