An orthodontic appliance (10) for correcting minor incisor irregularities and/or retaining incisors in orthodontically corrected positions, which includes a labial plate (12) engaging the labial surfaces of the incisors, a lingual bar or plate (14) engaging the lingual incisal surfaces, and shape memory wire (16, 18) interconnecting the ends of the labial plate with the lingual bar and resiliently urging the plate and bar toward each other so that when the appliance is mounted on the teeth of a patient, it will actively and continuously grip the incisors for tooth control and to prevent dislodgement.
L'invention porte sur un appareil dentaire (10) de correction d'irrégularités mineures des incisives et/ou de mise en place des incisives dans des positions conformes à l'orthodontie. Ledit appareil comporte une plaque labiale (12) portant sur la surface labiale des incisives, une barrette ou plaque linguale (14) portant sur la surface linguale des incisives, et un fil (16, 18) à mémoire de forme reliant les extrémités de la plaque labiale à la barrette linguale et poussant par élasticité la plaque et la barre l'une vers l'autre. Une fois monté, l'appareil enserre activement et continuellement les incisives pour les aligner et en empêcher le déchaussement.
