A new class of mammalian sprouty proteins is disclosed. The proteins are characterized by an amino acid sequence whose cysteine-rich region has at least 40 % sequence identity with SEQ ID NO:17 in the human sprouty 2 protein whose full length sequence is identified by SEQ ID NO:8. Also disclosed are (i) a pharmaceutical preparation containing a sprouty protein, (ii) a DNA sequence encoding the protein, (iii) vector and gene therapy compositions containing the DNA coding sequence, and (iv) methods of detecting a condition characterized by, or risk factor associated with, abnormal levels of active mammalian sprouty protein in a mammalian subject.
L'invention concerne une nouvelle classe de protéines ramifiées mammaliennes. Ces protéines sont caractérisées par une séquence aminoacide dont la région riche en cystéine présente une identité de séquence d'au moins 40 % avec la SEQ ID NO:17 dans la protéine 2 ramifiée humaine dont la séquence complète est identifiée par la SEQ ID NO:8. L'invention concerne également (i) une préparation pharmaceutique contenant une protéine ramifiée, (ii) une séquence d'ADN codant pour cette protéine, (iii) un vecteur et des compositions de thérapie génique contenant la séquence codante d'ADN, et (iv) des méthodes de détection d'un état caractérisé par, ou bien d'un facteur de risque associé à, des concentrations anormales de protéine ramifiée mammalienne active chez un mammifère.
