SQUEEZE CASTING PROCESS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for squeeze casting high melting point alloys within given dimension ranges and including a refractory- coated lower die formed with a cavity and a movable refractory- coated upper die selected on the basis of predetermined heat extraction rates before and during the application of pressure. The upper and lower dies are preheated to predetermined tempera- tures. A measured quantity of molten alloy is poured at a pre- determined temperature range into the lower die cavity so that the thickness dimension of the case alloy faces the sides of the cavity. The application of pressure is delayed for a predeter- mined time, thereafter, the upper die is inserted into the cavity and a predetermined pressure is applied to the partially solidified alloy for a predetermined length of time. The soli- dified alloy casting is then removed from the lower die cavity.
