A squeeze film damper is provided that includes a fluid source (224), a shaft (134, 138), a bearing assembly (206), a static bearing support (208), and a dam (254). The shaft (134, 138) includes openings (222) formed therein and an annular channel (220) in communication therewith that is configured to receive fluid from the fluid source (224). The bearing assembly (206) is disposed concentric to the shaft (134, 138) and includes an inner race (210) coupled to the shaft (134, 138), an outer race (212) disposed concentric to the inner race (210), and a rolling element (214) disposed between the inner and outer races (210, 212). Each of the inner and outer races (210, 212) includes openings 248, 252) configured to receive fluid from the shaft opening (222). The static bearing support housing (208) is spaced apart from the outer race (212) to define a clearance (218) therebetween. The dam (254) is disposed adjacent the bearing assembly (206) and extends radially inwardly relative to the bearing support housing (208) defining a shelf for receiving the fluid from the race openings (248. 252) and directing the fluid into the clearance (218).
