I am not aware of a product on the market that is intended for the sole purpose of permanently mounting electrical panels in wood frame, or steel stud building construction. Some of the reasons this becomes a way of making an electricians life easier is the fact that it drastically reduces the amount of woodwork/tin snipping necessary for mounting a panel in a stud wall efficiently and accurately; - To use this product, the installer must simply choose the necessary spacers included for the depth of drywall being used, with 1/2" requiring none, the SSE panel hanger can be fastened to any electrical panel using the machine screws provided. The installer is to determine main breaker height as per local electrical codes on the stud wall, place one screw in the stud, hang the SSE panel hanger assembly all on the one screw, level on one existing framing member, and finish fastening through the pre-drilled holes. -using a panel hanger reduces the need to butcher structural framing for wire access to the panel. -using a panel hanger makes getting your panel flush with finishing material easier, which is necessary as per code rule 12-3016(1) of the Canadian electrical code, which states, "The front edges of boxes, cabinets, and fittings installed in walls or ceilings shall be set in not more than 6mm from the finished surface and, where the walls or ceilings are of wood or other combustible material, shall be flush with the finished surface or shall project from the surface". - The 1/4" spacers provided give installer the option of recessing the electrical panel to a full 1" finish accurately given the 1/2" already built in to the hanger. - To install electrical panel, the 10/32 screws provided, along with the lock washers, and standard washers, must be used, and followed by wood screws of a minimum size of 3/4", # 10 or larger, to fasten the whole assembly to the wood or steel stud framing members. - The longer arm of the panel hanger is intended to save a step in framing, after checking with the onsite carpenter, one stud in a framed wall of 16" centres can be removed to accommodate the SSE panel hanger and electrical panel assembly. - With framing members placed 2' apart from one another, it is much easier to get all the feeds of a house into a panel, especially with the panel hangers, you are able to access three clear sides of the panel. -If the panel which is to be installed using an SSE panel hanger is not in the list of panels the SSE panel hanger accommodates which is attached to the drawing, the panel can be attached to the SSE panel hanger using a minimum of four self tapping screws, to ensure the SSE panel hanger is properly bonded to the panel.
