Ce procédé consiste essentiellement dans l'addition au monomère ou aux comonomères, avant ou pendant la poly- mérisation,de quantités efficaces d'au moins un composé organique ou inorganique de zinc et d'au moins une .beta.-dicétone ou un .beta.-cétoaldéhyde. Ce procédé permet d'améliorer la stabilité thermique du PVC.
