ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE Noval alkali siliconate silylalkylphosphonates of the formula Image wherein M is a cation selected from the group consisting of sodium, potassium, lithium, rubidium and tetraorgano ammonium cations: R is a divalent aliphatic hydrocarbon radical containing 1-3 carbon atoms or the benzul radical; and R' is a hydrocarbon radical or halohydrocarbon radical containing from 1-7 carbon atoms. These materials are capable of stabilizing water soluble silicates and capable of inhibiting corrosion of metal in aqueous systems.
