Spontaneous activation of platelets at the low temperatures normally used for blood storage is reduced or eliminated by treating the platelets with thermal hysteresis proteins. Preferred thermal hysteresis proteins are antifreeze proteins and antifreeze glycoproteins from polar fish species, and chromatographic fractions Nos. 2-6 of antifreeze glycoproteins have been found to be particularly effective.
L'activation spontanée des plaquettes sanguines aux températures de stockage normalement peu élevées peut s'éliminer par le traitement des plaquettes à l'aide de protéines à hystérèse thermique. Les protéines de ce type préférées sont des protéines et des glycoprotéines antigel provenant d'espèces de poissons polaires. Les fractions chromatographiques N~ 2 à 6 des glycoprotéines antigel s'avèrent particulièrement efficaces.
