STABILIZATION OF CATIONICALLY MODIFIED ACRYLAMIDE POLYMERS THROUGH THE USE OF A HALOGEN FREE OXYGEN CONTAINING INORGANIC ACID OR ITS ALKALI METAL SALTS ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A process for preparing cationic acrylamide polymers through the reaction of a formaldehyde-secondary amine adduct with a water-in-oil emulsion of finely divided acrylamide polymer formed by treatment with an oxygen containing halogen free inorganic acid or its alkali metal salts. The resulting products are further characterized in that they can be in- verted easily into aqueous solution. Compositions produced by the inven- tion are also disclosed.
