Disclosed herein is a process for the preparation of a mixture of styrenated p- cresol species that is liquid at room temperature and has a viscosity of less than 40,000 cps at 25°C, wherein said process affords 2,6-distyrenated p-cresol assaying at 70% minimum by GC area percent, comprising reacting styrene with p-cresol at a molar ratio of 1.85 to 2.1:1, respectively, in the presence of an acid catalyst at elevated temperature, wherein said mixture comprises monostyrenated-p-cresol, distyrenated-p-cresol, and tristyrenated-p-cresol and exhibits an acid number of less than 0.1 mg KOII/gram.

L'invention concerne un procédé pour la préparation d'un mélange d'espèces de p-crésols styrénés qui est liquide à température ambiante et qui a une viscosité inférieure à 40 000 cps à 25 °C, ledit procédé donnant du p-crésol 2,6-distyréné titrant à 70 % minimum par pourcent en surface de chromatographie en phase gazeuse, comprenant la réaction de styrène avec du p-crésol à un rapport molaire de 1,85 à 2,1 : 1, respectivement, en présence d'un catalyseur acide à une température élevée, ledit mélange comprenant du p-crésol monostyréné, du p-crésol distyréné et du p-crésol tristyréné et présentant un indice d'acidité inférieur à 0,1 mg KOH/gramme.
