An improved form of calcium carbonate which is acid resistant to enable its use as a filler material in the making of neutral to weakly acid paper, and a process for producing this acid resistant calcium carbonate are provided. This acid resistant calcium carbonate comprises a mixture of at least about 0.1 percent, based on the dry weight of the calcium carbonate of sodium carbonate, together with at least 0.1 percent, based on the dry weight of the calcium carbonate, of a mixture of weak acids in admixture with the calcium carbonate. The figure exemplifies the composition by teaching the weak acids are polyacrylate acid and phosphoric acid.
Carbonate de calcium sous forme améliorée, qui est résistant aux acides, ce qui autorise son utilisation à titre de matière de charge dans la fabrication de papier neutre à faiblement acide, et procédé de production de ce carbonate de calcium résistant aux acides. Ledit carbonate de calcium résistant aux acides comprend un mélange d'au moins 0,1 % environ de carbonate de sodium, calculé sur la base du poids à sec du carbonate de calcium, et d'au moins 0,1 % environ d'un mélange d'acides faibles, calculé sur la base du poids à sec du carbonate de calcium. La figure montre un exemple d'une telle composition, dans laquelle les acides faibles sont l'acide de polyacrylate et l'acide phosphorique.
