- 1 - Abstract: The present invention relates to a light transmitter. The transmitter is comprised of a cleaved- coupled cavity laser which, in turn, is comprised of a laser section and a modulator section. A unit is provided for measuring at least one characteristic of the light output from one of the sections with respect to the current through the modulator section. A feedback mechanism using the at least one characteristic is employed to maintain the light output at a desired spectral value.
