ABSTRACT This invention provides a novel disinfectant composi- tion which is an aqueous solution containing hypochlorite ions, such as sodium hypochlorite, containing a tertiary al- iphatic alcohol, such as tertiary-butanol. The alcohol acts as an odour masking agent and as a stabilizer for hypochlor- ite ions while itself possessing disinfecting properties. The composition is useful as a disinfectant.
