The present invention provides a method for stabilizing lithium metal powder. The method comprises the steps of heating the lithium metal powder to above its melting point to provide molten lithium metal, dispersing the molten lithium metal, and contacting the dispersed molten lithium metal with a phosphorous- containing compound to provide a substantially continuous protective layer of lithium phosphate on the lithium metal powder.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de stabilisation de poudre métallique de lithium. Le procédé comprend les étapes consistant à chauffer la poudre métallique de lithium au-dessus de son point de fusion pour obtenir du métal de lithium fondu, disperser le métal de lithium fondu, et mettre en contact le métal de lithium dispersé avec un composé contenant du phosphore pour apporter une couche protectrice sensiblement continue de phosphate de lithium sur la poudre métallique de lithium.
