A compatibilized polyphenylene ether-polyamide resin composition is disclosed which has good retention of impact resistance characteristics even after ageing as well as good oxidation and melt stability. The composition comprises: a) a blend of 5 to 95 parts by weight of polyphenylene ether resin and 95 to 5 parts by weight of polyamide resin, and b) from 0.001 to 0.5 parts by weight per 100 parts of resin blend a), of a metal salt such as CuCl2, CuI, copper acetate and cerium stearate.
