ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE A stable calcium hypochlorite composition is disclosed and a method for its preparation. The composition has a calcium hypochlorite anhydride and/or a calcium hypochlorite dihydrate as its main constituent and comprises at least 60 wt % of calcium hypochlorite; 5 to 10 wt % of calcium hydroxide; 4 to 22 wt % of water; and not more than 5 wt % of calcium chloride, The compo- sition is stable and decomposes only to a small degree at a high temperature and during storage over a long period.
