The present invention provides creatine amidino-hydrolase, which catalyses the reaction: creatine + H2O -> sarcosine + urea wherein, in position 109 of an amino acid sequence of the wild type enzyme, alanine is replaced by valine. The present invention also provides a process for the production of this enzyme.
