Abstract Dyes which are resistant to hypochlorite attack are set out. Hydrophobic latex particles containing such dyes are likewise disclosed. A combined liquid bleaching and dyeing composition is set out which includes the aforementioned particles dispersed in hypochlorite liquid bleach at a pH above about 11. Such a composition has sufficiently long shelf life for the purposes of ordinary commerce.
