12 ABSTRACT An interferon .beta. composition comprises a buffered solution of highly purified interferon .beta. and conventional excipients. The solution is stabilized by the addition of 0.5 to 10% wt/volume of polyvinyl pyrrolidone. By stabilizing the composition in this way, the biological activity of interferon can be maintained for an extended period of time.
