Dental bleaching compositions are made with a bleaching agent and a stable radiant-energy absorbing compound that acts as a bleaching agent activator. The dental bleaching compositions of the present invention can be one-part, pre-mixed compositions that do not require mixing at the time of treating a patient's teeth but which remain stable over time. The bleaching agent may consist of hydrogen peroxide, either in aqueous form or complexed with urea (carbamide peroxide) or sodium perborate. The bleaching agent activator includes hydrocarbons that are stable in the presence of the bleaching agent, which do not prematurely accelerate liberation of the bleaching agent, but which allow for selective activation of the bleaching agent by irradiation of the bleaching composition with radiant energy. The bleaching composition may optionally include a neutralizing agent to adjust the pH, a carrier to help provide proper consistency and potency, and a stabilizing agent to maintain maximum potency of the bleaching agent over time. The bleaching composition may also include a thickening agent to achieve a selected viscosity. The dental bleaching compositions may be adapted to be loaded into and delivered from a syringe.
Des compositions pour le blanchiment des dents sont réalisées avec un agent de blanchiment et un composé stable absorbant l'énergie radiante, lequel agit comme activateur d'agent de blanchiment. Ces compositions peuvent être des compositions simples prémélangées qu'il n'est pas nécessaire de mélanger lors du traitement des dents d'un patient, mais qui demeurent stables à long terme. L'agent de blanchiment peut être constitué de peroxyde d'hydrogène, sous forme aqueuse ou complexé avec de l'urée (peroxyde de carbamide) ou du perborate de sodium. L'activateur d'agent de blanchiment renferme des hydrocarbures qui sont stables en présence de l'agent de blanchiment, qui n'accelèrent pas prématurément la libération de l'agent de blanchiment, mais qui permettent l'activation sélective de ce dernier par irradiation de la composition de blanchiment avec une énergie radiante. La composition de blanchiment peut éventuellement comprendre un agent neutralisant en vue d'ajuster le pH, un vecteur contribuant à assurer la consistance et l'activité appropriées, ainsi qu'un agent de stabilisation destiné à maintenir l'activité maximale de l'agent de blanchiment à long terme. La composition de blanchiment peut également comporter un épaississant permettant d'obtenir la viscosité choisie. Ces compositions pour le blanchiment des dents peuvent être adaptées pour être chargées dans une seringue et distribuées par celle-ci.
