Stable, non-hygroscopic salts of L(-)carnitine and alkanoyl L(-)carnitines with mucic acid of formula (I) are disclosed wherein the molar ratio between the carnitine moiety and mucic acid is 2:1. A process for producing the salts and solid orally administrable compositions containing same are also disclosed.

On décrit des sels non hygroscopiques de L(-)carnitine et de dérivés alcanoyles de L(-)carnitine avec de l'acide mucique, de la formule (I) dans lesquels le rapport molaire entre la fraction carnitine et l'acide mucique est de 2/1. On décrit également un procédé de production de ces sels ainsi que des compositions solides contenant ceux-ci et pouvant être administrées oralement.
