ABSTRACT OF DISCLOSURE This invention relates to stable pumpable slurries of ethylene oxide polymers in liquid media, which comprises (a) particulate ethylene oxide polymer, having a density of about 1.15 to about 1.26. (b) an inert liquid vehicle which is non-solvent for said ethylene oxide polymer and having a density of about 96.52-103.5% of the density of said particulate ethylene oxide polymer. The vehicle is a mixture of two mutually soluble liquids or a solution of a solid in a liquid provided that it is a non-solvent for the ethylene oxide polymer and is miscible in water. The volume of liquid vehicle used per unit volume of polymer powder exceeds the void volume of the ethylene oxide polymer by at least 3% but by not more than 500%. The use of slurries made according to the invention provides a novel hydrodynamic drag reducing system having improved handling charateristics including pumpability, pourability and/or stratification resistance.
