A stacking and nesting storage crate including a bottom, and first and second pairs of opposing sidewalls. Each crate also includes a rail, which extends along the lowermost edge of at least a portion of the first pair of opposing sidewalls, and a lip, which extends along the top edge of at least a portion of each of the first pair of opposing sidewalls. When placed in the stacking position, the rails of the upper module are supported by the lips of the lower module. From the stacking position, one of the modules is rotated 90 for placement into the nesting position.
