A stackable insulated unit (10,10') for wall construction for cooperation with conventional wall studs (14) forming a self-supporting wall structure consists of two side wooden planks (20,22) spaced apart and provided therebetween with an insulating layer (50) which has at least two transverse through openings (56) for reception of respective wall stud sections (14'), either slidably or permanently secured thereto.
