STAGGERED ROLLS AND BELTS FOR ROUND BALER Abstract of the Disclosure A baler for making round bales includes a bale chamber defined by a pair of vertical, transversely spaced sidewalls and a plurality of rolls extending between the sidewalls and supporting a plurality of side-by-side disposed belts. The chamber has an inlet to which crop materials are fed by a pickup mechanism. In one embodiment, a set of three consecutive rolls are arranged in a triangular pattern forwardly of the inlet and some of the belts are mounted so that they bypass the middle roll of the set of three rolls. In another embodiment, a set of four rolls are arranged in a quadrangular pattern forwardly of the pickup and first and second sets of the belts are respectively mounted so that they bypass the second and third rolls of the set of four rolls.
