A carpet which comprises: (a) a pile comprising a plurality of face yarns; (b) a primary backing having two major surfaces, i.e., a face surface and a back surface, the face yarns being secured to the primary backing and extending from the face surface thereof; and (c) an impermeable hydrophobic barrier bonded to the primary backing. Substantially the entire surface of the portion of the face yarn which is not encased within at least one of the barrier or the backing is hydrophobic.

La présente invention a trait à une moquette comportant : (a) un velours comprenant une pluralité de fils de fond ; (b) un support primaire présentant deux surfaces principales, notamment une face endroit et une face envers, les fils de fond étant fixés au support primaire et s'étendant de la face endroit de celui-ci ; et (c) une barrière hydrophobe imperméable liée au support primaire. Pratiquement toute la surface de la portion de fils de fond qui n'est pas encadrée à l'intérieur d'un parmi la barrière et le support est hydrophobe.
