Disclosed is a stainless steel material for separators of solid polymer fuel cells having excellent battery characteristics with little performance decrease during a long-time operation, which does not deteriorate the corrosion resistance of a stainless steel separator. The stainless steel material comprises a stainless steel matrix, an oxide film formed on the surface of the stainless steel matrix, a conductive layer formed on the surface of the oxide film and provided with a non-metallic conductive substance, and a conductive substance so arranged as to penetrate the oxide film and electrically connected to the stainless steel matrix and the conductive layer. A solid polymer fuel cell using the stainless steel material is also disclosed.

Linvention concerne un matériau en acier inoxydable pour séparateurs de piles à combustible à polymère solide présentant dexcellentes caractéristiques de batterie avec une faible diminution des performances pendant un fonctionnement à long terme, qui ne détériore pas la résistance à la corrosion d'un séparateur en acier inoxydable. Le matériau en acier inoxydable comprend une matrice en acier inoxydable, un film doxyde formé à la surface de la matrice en acier inoxydable, une couche conductrice formée à la surface du film doxyde et munie dune substance conductrice non métallique, et une substance conductrice disposée de telle sorte quelle pénètre dans le film doxyde et est électriquement reliée à la matrice en acier inoxydable et à la couche conductrice. Linvention concerne également une pile à combustible à polymère solide utilisant le matériau en acier inoxydable.
