ABSTRACT OF TOE DISCLOSURE A staircase step assembly is disclosed with a standard aluminum step that can be easily joined to stringers without the need for welding. The staircase step assembly comprises a step formed of an aluminum extrusion in the shape of a channel with a top web having step surface thereon and side flanges including a center reinforcing flange substantially parallel with the side flanges, at least three screw flutes integral with the flanges, the flutes located on the inside of each of the two side flanges and on the center flange, a stringer on each side of the step having holes therein to match the location of the screw flutes, and screws to hold the step to the stringers.
