A stair lift comprises a lift assembly arranged to be driven along a rail. The lift assembly comprises a chassis (10) supporting a load bearing member such as a seat (1) and the chassis is formed by a main member on which are mounted a drive assembly (11) and a levelling assembly (12) for maintaining the seat horizontal by altering the orientation of the chassis with respect to the rail so as to maintain horizontal the load bearing member as the lift assembly moves along the rail. One or both of the drive and levelling assemblies may be pivotally mounted on the chassis to permit rotation about a vertical axis so as to accommodate bends in the rail.
Le monte-escalier décrit comprend un ensemble élévateur agencé de façon à être entraîné le long d'un rail. Ledit ensemble ascenseur comprend un châssis (10) supportant un élément de support de charge tel qu'un siège (1). Ce châssis est constitué d'un élément principal sur lequel sont montés un ensemble d'entraînement (11) et un ensemble de mise à niveau (12) permettant de maintenir le siège horizontal en altérant l'orientation du châssis par rapport au rail. Ainsi, l'élément de support de charge est fixé horizontalement lorsque l'ensemble élévateur se déplace le long du rail. L'ensemble d'entraînement et/ou l'ensemble de mise à niveau peuvent être montés de manière pivotante sur le châssis de façon à pouvoir tourner autour d'un axe vertical et s'adapter ainsi aux courbes du rail.
