ABSTRACT A stamped exhaust manifold for a small internal combustion engine having a stamped sheet metal housing (24) including an inlet (46) and an outlet (60). A sheet metal baffle (72) is located in the housing (24) opposite the inlet (46) and spaced from the housing (24) to form a dead air insulating pocket (74) between the baffle (72) and the housing (24). The baffle (72) is positioned so that hot exhaust gas entering the manifold from the engine through the inlet port (46) will impinge directly on the baffle (72) and will be deflected thereby through substantially 90° to the manifold outlet port (60).
