The invention concerns standardized, primary osteoblast cell cultures taken from test subjects examined with respect to differential diagnosis and suspected of suffering from osteoporosis. The invention also concerns the use of these cell cultures in diagnosing osteoporosis and for testing potential osteoporosis therapeutic agents. The invention further concerns a process for diagnosing osteoporosis in which the existence of osteoporosis can be diagnosed with up 95 % reliability, and a process for testing potential osteoporosis therapeutic agents in which an effective osteoporosis therapeutic agent can be found for each individual case.
