A standby power apparatus includes a standby power supply and a plurality of load circuits. There is a plurality of service power conductors, one for each load circuit. A standby power panel has a plurality of normal power panel terminals, each connected to one service power conductor. There is a plurality of panel load terminals, each connected to one load circuit. A standby power panel terminal is connected to the standby power supply. There is a plurality of switches, one for each load circuit. Each switch has a first terminal connected to one load terminal, a second terminal connected to one normal power panel terminal and a third terminal connected to the standby power panel. Each switch also has a member selectively movable to connect the first terminal to the second terminal or to the third terminal. Each load circuit can therefore be selectively connected to the standby power supply and disconnected from the service power conductors or connected to a service power conductor and disconnected from the standby power supply.
