ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE This invention relates to a star-shaped polyether prepolymer and a process for preparing same. The prepolymer is represented by the general formula (I): Image wherein R1 is a residual group derived from a polyhydric alcohol having at least 3 hydroxy groups or a residual group derived from a polyvalent amino compound having at least 3 hydrogen atoms linked to the nitrogen atom thereof; R2 and R3 are each an aliphatic hydrocarbon residual group; n is a natural number; and p is an integer of 3 or more. These prepolymers are useful in the production of novel star block copolymers which have superior physical properties, particularly impact strength and reduction in coloration. The copolymers are useful in the preparation of fibers, foams, automotive parts and electrical components.
