The invention provides a lubricating composition containing (a) a polymer derived from greater than 50 wt % or more of a non-diene monomer, wherein the polymer has a weight average molecular weight of about 2000 to about 200,000, and wherein the polymer has a shear stability index of about 0 to about 25; (b) a phosphorus-containing acid, salt, or ester; (c) an extreme pressure agent, other than a phosphorus-containing acid, salt, or ester; and (d) an oil of lubricating viscosity. The invention further provides a method for lubricating a mechanical device with the lubricating composition.

L'invention concerne une composition lubrifiante contenant (a) un polymère dérivé de plus de 50% en poids ou davantage d'un monomère non diénique, ce polymère présentant un poids moléculaire moyen en poids compris entre environ 2000 et environ 200.000 et un indice de stabilité au cisaillement compris entre environ 0 et environ 25, (b) un acide, un sel ou un ester contenant du phosphore, (c) un agent extrême-pression autre que l'acide, le sel ou l'ester contenant du phosphore, et (d) une huile de viscosité lubrifiante. L'invention concerne également un procédé destiné à lubrifier un dispositif mécanique au moyen de cette composition lubrifiante.
