ABSTRACT OF THE DISCLOSURE: A starter bar head arrangement to be used in continuous casting plants has at least one strand anchoring piece connecting the starter bar head with the crop end of the strand by casting-on inserted in a recess of the starter bar head so that it protrudes therefrom and fixed by a transverse bolt, the recess being open towards the front face of the starter bar head, and the at least one strand anchoring piece is automatically droppable after removal of the transverse bolt and separation of the crop end.
