ABSTRACT A starter strip 10 for anchoring to a wall the bottom margins of the lowermost course of an array of horizontally elongate cladding panels 11 each secured to the wall along its top margin and ezch having an inwardly projecting, upwardly opening channel- section flange 24 along its bottom margin, includes a leg 40 mountable on the wall, a locking flange 42 arranged to be received within the channel-section flange 24 of a panel, and a spring leg 44 for acting against the inner surface of the panel to urge the bottom margin of the panel outwardly and thereby to hold the inner leg of the channel-section flange against the inner edge of the locking flange.
