A starting control for a hydraulic piston/cylinder unit having a control valve with open and closed positions, a first connecting line connected to the hydraulic piston/cylinder unit and a second connecting line connected to a pressure feed. When the first connecting line is pressurized, a force can be generated on the control valve. The control includes a first control line connected to the control valve so that when it is subjected to pressure a force acting in the open position can be generated on the control valve. A restrictor element is provided whose inlet can be connected to the pressure feed and whose outlet is in connected to a pressure store and the first control line. The control valve is moved from the open position to the closed position when the pressure force in the first connecting line exceeds the pressure force in the first control line by a given amount. The control valve can be used to operate a multi-disc clutch.
