A description is given of a static mixer, comprising at least a mixer insert (2), possibly a support (3) and possibly a hold-down device (4), with an enclosing housing (1), the mixer insert (2) being made up of a multiplicity of interleaved grids of mutually parallel bars (2a, 2b, 2c; 12a, 12b, 12c) arranged in layers (5a, 5b) lying one above the other, and the grids being arranged with respect to one another in such a way that they are turned by an angle a about the main direction of flow through the mixer.
